Grace's Place - Bury, North Manchester
Building on its hugely successful track record, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is opening a new children’s hospice, called Grace’s Place. We are working hard to raise funds to purchase critical equipment to ensure we can begin caring for children in North Manchester with life shortening condition
Charity information: Forget Me Not Children's Hospice
The need for Grace’s Place was established some years ago. In North Manchester there are more than 650 children living with life shortening conditions. The vast majority of these children are not receiving support from a children’s hospice, as the nearest hospices are many miles to the north (Derian House) or South (Francis House). The local community, care professionals and the families waiting for care have for many years been strong supporters of Grace’s Place and continue to be so.
For us Hospice at Home means providing weekly planned respite for children living with life shortening conditions and their families in their own homes. Families tell us that while the hospice is a special place for them to come to it is the weekly care and support they receive at home which makes a massive difference. Hospice at Home will be a really significant part of what we do for children and families in North Manchester and surrounding areas.
To begin offering Hospice at Home for children from North Manchester by Christmas 2017.
Activities» To start our care in North Manchester we need essential equipment to enable our care team to support local children and their families.
What success will look like
providing weekly planned respite for children living with life shortening conditions and their families in their own homes.
Our plan is to begin offering Hospice at Home for children from North Manchester by Christmas 2017. Ahead of this we are already beginning to recruit our care team locally so we can train them and get them ready to deliver care. Your support will mean we can care for the first children ever to be supported from Grace’s Place, providing them with exactly what they need for as long as they need it, and creating some very special memories for families which will stay with them forever.
The pace at which we will get Hospice at Home started at Grace’s Place is determined by the income we can secure to give us the confidence to begin care.
Regular updates are provided, for example social media will highlight the secured funding and the ongoing support provided to children and families
