Project information
Improving the lives of dogs and cats
At Three Counties we take in dogs and cats needing new homes. Often veterinary treatment is needed before they are fit enough to be re-homed. We are an entirely unpaid, voluntary and self funded Rescue and have to raise funds to meet veterinary bills of around £100,000 a year.
This is an annual project, renewed every year.

Need
Need
There are many unwanted dogs and cats. We respond to requests to take them and find new homes. If we didn't it is likely that the animals will be passed on or sold to unscrupulous people without regard for their welfare.
We rehomed 250 dogs and cats last year. Without us their futures would have been uncertain at best.Solution
People interested in rehoming a dog or cat do not want to take on veterinary costs for a poorly animal.
We need to complete the rehabilitation of the animals and ensure they are fit before they can be found new permanent homes.
Our project will ensure that animals can more easily find new homes as they will be fit and well. -
Aims
Aim 1
To ensure the dogs and cats in our care are brought back to good health.
Activities
» All animals coming to us are assessed, first by us and then by the vets we use. We work with them to ensure their readiness for rehoming.
» We fund any veterinary treatment and work with them to rehabilitate body and mind to ensure their future happiness
What success will look like
The animals state of health will be determined by the vets and its general wellbeing assessed by experienced volunteers at the Rescue
Aim 2
To find good and permanent homes for the dogs and cats in our care.
Activities
» Once we are happy that the animal is ready for rehoming we advertise on our website, facebook page and local press and personal recommendations
» Prospective new owners are screened to ensure they can provide a suitable and secure environment for the dog or cat.
» The animal is taken for a trial period after which, if successful, the rehoming is made permanent.
What success will look like
All rehomings are recorded. Last year we improved the lives of 250 dogs and cats.
Aim 3
To raise funds to maintain our work
Activities
» We run collections throughout the year at various locations in our area of operation.
» We run a charity shop with all profits going to the Rescue.
» We have a number of fundraising and sponsored events through the year and also have a sponsor a dog scheme.
What success will look like
BY measuring how near to meeting the requirement to fund the veterinary treatment we come.

Impact
Impact
Hundreds of dogs and cats will be living in a loving, happy and secure environment, giving pleasure to their new owners.
We keep in touch with all our owners through facebook and by personal contact. We provide advice and guidance and remain there for all our dogs and cats should circumstances ever mean that they can no longer be kept by their owners.Risk
The key risk is lack of funds to support our work. We have relied on benefactors to meet shortfalls in the past but this is not a long term option. We have plans to buy the kennels we use and fund the rescue work through the income from boarding.
Reporting
We respond individually to donors and provide information through our annual report.

Background
Location
We operate in a fifty mile radius of our base in South Lincolnshire. The animals in need of veterinary treatment will have been taken from people in this area who no longer wanted their animals.
Beneficiaries
Primarily the dogs and cats that come to us for new permanent homes.
The previous owners benefit by having a source to take animals from them that they no longer want or can cope with.
New owners benefit from the pleasure of owning a dog or cat that comes to them in good health. -
Why Us?
