YE Scotland has been inspiring young people to learn & succeed through enterprise for 40+ years. We are asking for your help to support over 14,000 young people throughout Scotland to develop their business knowledge, increase their entrepreneurial skills & to become more employable.
January 2018 - December 2018
Charity information: Young Enterprise Scotland
It is increasingly important, given the high levels of unemployment amongst young people in Scotland, that young people have an awareness of enterprise combined with the necessary skills & experience to make it an achievable future pathway. With fewer traditional employment avenues & low levels of economic growth, new business start-ups &young people with the skills, experience & confidence to develop them are vitally important to future economic development at a local and national level
Young Enterprise Scotland’s ‘learning by doing’ activities increase young people’s entrepreneurial ability and work-readiness by developing skills and personal strengths in: communication, confidence, problem solving, finance, presenting, leadership, decision-making, creative-thinking, organisation, resilience, initiative and teamwork - all essential skills for running a successful business or doing well whatever their chosen career path

Activities» Deliver Bridge 2 Business in Scottish colleges - an interactive programme of mentoring & events to inspire, connect & support students into business

Strengthen the work readiness of Scotland’s young people
Activities» Deliver the Pathway Programme – a practical, supportive enterprise training course for young people not currently in employment or educati
» Deliver the Junior Pathway Programme at Rouken Glen for young people aged 13-15 who are not successfully engaging with school
We will see an increase in young participants who feel more ready for work & will increase the number of young people on our Pathway Programme who go on to positive destinations.
The project will improve the practical and transferable skills for employment for young people in Scotland and will support young people to start up their own successful businesses. We will show the success of our work by monitoring the number of young people who demonstrate an increased skill-set, who achieve qualifications and who go on to set up their own businesses. We will keep in touch with participants, teachers and volunteers throughout the project and beyond to track progress.
There is a risk that key staff members or volunteers move on from the organisation. We have dealt with this by ensuring a rigorous business plan is in place to ensure continuity of delivery. As with all voluntary sector organisations, there is also a risk that we do not secure all of the funding required to run our planned activities. To mitigate this, we have a sustainable fundraising strategy in place.
Donors to our project will be added to our quarterly email update list and will receive regular updates on the ongoing and forthcoming activities of Young Enterprise Scotland.

We work in colleges, secondary, primary & special needs schools from all areas of Scotland. The Pathway Programmes take place in our innovative Centre - located at the heart of beautiful Rouken Glen Park. It is a dedicated, supportive training centre for young people & an inspiring and environmentally-friendly space helping to raise aspirations & promote more positive attitudes. It includes growing areas, construction workshops & wonderful social businesses that demonstrate how enterprise work.
We work with young people (aged 5-30), from all backgrounds, throughout Scotland. Our Pathway Programmes work with young people who are not achieving in or are excluded from traditional education and employment sectors. Many live in areas in the bottom 15% of the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation & who are often experiencing very low educational attainment, high levels of unemployment, poverty, poor family relationships & an endemic lack of self-esteem & aspiration that is hard to overcome
YE Scotland is Scotland’s leading young people’s enterprise education charity. For 40+ years we have delivered a practical programme of enterprise activities for over 250,000 young people. Well-connected to the education & business communities, we are currently working in all regions of Scotland. Many of our Alumni, now successful entrepreneurs in their own right, continue to volunteer for us, mentoring current participants & sharing expertise.
