We will be working with our residents (known as Companions) to develop their work related skills to ensure they have the best chance of securing and retaining suitable employment on leaving the organisation
January 2018 - December 2018
Charity information: Emmaus Medway Limited
Many people who have been homeless face disadvantages int he work place and so find it harder to secure meaningful and sustainable work. This could be because they lack the skills and experience to prepare themselves for work and the recruitment process.
By working directly with our residents to help them develop work related skills through our social enterprise and by developing their job search and interview skills. thus providing them with the best opportunity to secure long term, sustainable employment.
To support Companions into sustainable employment
Activities» To work with Companions to develop work related skills through the opportunities provided through the Social Enterprise
» To support Companions to develop job search and interview skills to give them the best chance of being successful in their job search
What success will look like
This will be demonstrated by the number of Comapnions who have moved on to employment positions with our help
In the long term we will be able to support more people to gain independence through work than we do currently as we will be providing more direct support.
It will lead to an increase in the number of individuals who are able to live independently after experiencing homelessness
The risks are that we would not be able to recruit and retain the member of staff required to manage this project.
There is also a risk that there would not be enough Companions who were ready to seek and retain work.
We will provide an impact report to show the impact of the work which has been undertaken.

The project will focus on the Medway area of Kent which is where the Charity is based.
It is a very diverse community with areas or affluence and deprivation very close to one another.
Homelessness is on the increase as the availability of affordable housing seems to be on the decline.
The five towns which make up the Medway towns form its historical centre at Rochester with its Cathedral and Castle to it's urban shopping centre at Chatham.
There is need for this service int he local area
The local Community will benefit as will the individuals who need support.
We will be in position to work with local employers to provide them with a steady stream of potential employees who have the skills they are looking for.
As we provide accommodation and meaningful daily activity to Companions, enhancing the service we already provide.
There are already Companions we are in contact with through the service we provide which will enable us to
