Charity information: Become
It can be lonely and confusing being in care. Children and young people in and leaving care often have lots of questions about what support they are entitled to, but finding this information can be difficult and confusing.
Our Care Advice Service provides specialist information and advice to hundreds of care-experienced young people across the country each year. We help young people navigate the complex and bureaucratic landscape of the care system, and answer questions on anything from their rights to contact with siblings, to financial support, independent living and access to education and employment.
To provide care-experienced young people with impartial advice and support about any aspect of care.
Activities» Deliver phone, face-to-face advice, factsheets, and outreach workshops providing guidance on rights and entitlements.
What success will look like
Success will be responding to requests for advice during this period.
Our Care Advice Service will ensure that children in care and young care leavers have a confidential, independent source of support and advice. We monitor the number of requests we receive and we have a feedback form on our website inviting those who have called our helpline to complete a short survey about their experience using the service.
The risk is that in the future we may not be able to answer all the requests for support that we receive. We need your support to ensure this vital service keeps running.
We will invite our supporters to sign up to our e-mail newsletter which contains updates on our all work including the Care Advice Service. We encourage our supporters to follow us on social media and our annual report (available to download on our website) includes a review of the service.
