Home At Last; Rescue, Revive, Renew

The big idea behind our project is transforming our pack-and-go shelter to a permanent building; helping our aim to cease homelessness in the London Borough of Havering, as well as supporting and reintegrating into society those fleeing abuse, fighting substance addiction, and those who are in need.

December 2017 - March 2018

  • Need

Hope4Havering endeavours to make homelessness history.

Having a fixed shelter will further our efforts by freeing us up to do more in the way of understanding and preventing the cycle of homelessness. Without the burden of packing and going every day we'll have more time, money and energy to spend addressing the emotional, mental, physical, practical and spiritual needs of our guests.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

    » Outreach working
» Taking referrals from other organisations
    » Referring to other agencies

    What success will look like

Feedback forms and statistics (for example we saved the local police 8 million pounds in 4 years)

    Aim 2

» Arranging and sorting out benefits for guests
» Providing a stable abode for at least 12 weeks, where our guests can receive daily support

    What success will look like

Feedback forms and statistics (for example we saved the local police 8 million pounds in 4 years)

    Aim 3

» Provide an environment for emotional, mental and spiritual growth and a support rehabilitation centre if needed
» Assist with moving into a tenancy

    What success will look like

Success stories, low return rates (ending the cycle)

  • Impact

Significantly reduce and hopefully eliminate homelessness in the London Borough of Havering.
We'll know that we're achieving this aim because we'll have a shelter where the only guests are new to the street and in the process of finding housing, rehab or work. Our statistics will be indicative as well as the feedback from our community and guests.

There's a possibility we will be out bid for the location we're interested in, we've negotiated the possibilty of leasing it and we've looked into other options to buy.

We send online reporting to some donors and for others we post a written report depending on their requirements.

  • Background

The London Borough of Havering is the third largest London borough, covering some 43 square
miles. It is located on the northeast boundary of Greater London. To the north and east the Borough is bordered by the Essex countryside, to the south by a three mile River Thames frontage, and to the west by the neighbouring boroughs of Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham. Havering continues to be a multicultural area with an age profile that is older than London as a whole.
