2500 hours of fun & care
This project will allow us to offer families who have children with disabilities a short break, from afternoon tea to a 24 hour stay, at our home from home specialist care house in Surrey. This project funding would mean we can offer 2,500 hours of care and fun at minimal cost to the parents.
Through to end of March 2018
Charity information: Cherry Trees
Making short breaks more accessible to families that receive no funding from local authoritites and can't afford to pay for the full cost that care involves. Cherry Trees aims to be a model of excellence in respite care/short breaks for children with physical and learning disabilities. Our objectives are to reach out to as many families as possible, to help prevent family breakdown, enable young people to progress and for families to be fully integrated into the local community.
The funding from this project will support 2,500 hours of care which we can offer to families at a very discounted rate and often where one to one support is required, fund this additional cost. Your support will mean that we can cover this cost allowing us to provide these hours to families who desperately need a break or just some time to catch up, rest or spend time with family knowing that their child is in safe hands and having a great time too.
To provide 2,500 hours of care to families who have a child/children with disabilities.
Activities» Provide to existing families the availability of these hours. Speak with local authorities, allowing them to offer this to other famililies.
What success will look like
Share stories of visits (with permissions), show the breakdown of visit types and delivery of 1-1 care. Feedback from parents on what it meant to them having this stay.
Increase awanreness of this facility for parents. There are still many families, with disabled children who are unaware of this service and that there are discounted stays. We build trust and confidence as time goes on. Parents see improvements in life skills and gaining indpendence for the child which sets them up for transition in later life. It will also highlight potential funding of this project in the future.
The risks are minimal - the main thing is that the Charity can achieve the funding to support these stays.
Donors that support this project will receive quarterley updates on the stays we have provided what the children have been up to.

Cherry Trees’ is based in East Clandon, providing care for 37 years we put the child first, disability second; ensuring children progress and participate in a range of activities and positive experiences, whilst delivering sustainable support to the whole family. We believe that every child is an individual with the right to enjoy a normal pattern of life within the community, appropriate to his or her age. We advocate respect, dignity and freedom of choice for all.
Children with disabilities aged 0-19 years and their families, parents and siblings within Surrey and the surrounding counties.
We are unique in our service delivery in this area and we work in true collaboration with families, young people and professionals to ensure the care and services we deliver are making a real difference. Children especially are central to decision making. As the pressure on our parents is increasing, we see it as part of our strategic remit to not only provide short breaks but also to provide advice and support on broader issues.
