Fleet Meadow Replacement Building
This project will provide a new building for Restore's South Oxford Recovery Project, based at Fleet Meadow, Didcot. The project supports people with mental health problems to engage in horticulture, woodwork and ceramics in a supportive, but challenging, work-like environment.
Charity information: Restore
Our project is trying to solve the lack of space we have at our South Oxford Recovery Group. With more space we will be able to help more people with mental illness. A new building will also help us lower our expenditure.
By relocating the building onto allotment land it will give us a lease for 30 years helping costs. With a new build we also hope to reduce the buildings running cost, reducing heating bills etc. It will be a larger building so we can help more people with mental illness. There will be additional outside WC for allotment users, confidential interview rooms and new sinks, units and worktop space in the two workshops.
Provide a new building for Restore's South Oxford Recovery Project, based at Fleet Meadow, Didcot.
Activities» Apply for capital funding from charitable trusts and foundations
» Hold an annual Fleet Meadow Festival to raise money for the new build and bring publicity to the project
» Arrange events throughout the year to raise additional funds for the project
Success will be winning bids, grants and trusts we have applied for, and having successful fundraising events.
In 2016-2017, we supported 102 people at Fleet Meadow. Increased capacity will improve accessibility to new service users, so we are able to support up to 250 members a year.
Even though we have the backing of Didcot council we will still need to get planning permission which could be a risk.
We will report to our donors on progress in our monthly newsletters as well as regular posts on our Facebook page and Twitter feeds and press releases.

Fleet Meadow Recovery Group supports people with mental health problems to engage in horticulture, woodwork and ceramics in a supportive, but challenging, work-like environment. The site has an orchard and vegetable patch; produce is sold in the on-site shop and used in Restore's two cafes.
In 2005 the building was erected by Restore as a temporary solution, it is approximately 140m2 and ideally needs to be at least 30% larger to meet the demand and accommodate the activities.
In 2016-2017, we supported 102 people at Fleet Meadow. Increased capacity will imporved accessibility to new service users, so we are able to support up to 250 members a year. Beneficiaries experience moderate-severe ill-health including: depression/psychosis/schizophrenia/bi-polar disorder/personality disorders. Almost all are defined as having a mental disability under the Equalities Act 2010, meaning their illness effects normal day-to-day activity for more than 12 months.
