Mission Christmas Appeal

Bauer Radio's Cash for Kids (Scotland) aims to keep the magic of Christmas alive for thousands of local disadvantaged children that otherwise would wake up to nothing from Santa on Christmas morning. We aim to ensure that every child in our local area wakes up to at least three gifts from Santa.

November 2017 - December 2017

  • Need

    Need

Cash for Kids (Scotland) helps children who are disadvantaged through poverty, and who are sick or disabled. We also help groups and organisations that work to improve the lives of children in our community. At Christmas time we raise as much funds as possible to enable us to keep the magic of Christmas alive for the thousands of Scottish children that would otherwise wake up to nothing on Christmas day.

    Solution

We invite local schools, community workers, social workers and various professionals working with disadvantaged children to apply for gifts for children that will otherwise go without. From this we then know the number of children we are aiming to help. We then gather in physical gifts as well as cash donations (to purchase gifts) throughout November and December and then distribute the gifts to the parents or carers of the named children in advance of Christmas morning.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To make sure that no child in our local area goes without gifts from Santa this Christmas.

    Activities

» Distribute gifts to identified disadvantaged children in our area, to keep the magic of Christmas for all children.

Success will be children having higher self esteem and self worth. Christmas being a special day - not just another day.

  • Impact

    Impact

When a child does not receive a gift from their parents or 'Santa' at Christmas this makes them feel a sense of worthlessness. It can also single them out at school, making them stand out for all the wrong reasons. By providing these children with gifts it encourages positive self esteem along with closing the social economic gap. Long term effects will include children feeling more confident as reducing the risk of bullying from their peers.

    Risk

We have delivered 'Mission Christmas' for over 20 years and it has always been very successful. However, every year, as the number of children living in poverty increases, so does the need for our support. The main aim for us is gaining as much support as possible to ensure that we can fulfil every application for support that we receive.

    Reporting

We will notify donors via letter and email directly to advise them on how many children we have supported and the overall total of funds raised. As well as this we will announce our totals Bauer Media Radio Stations as well as local press. We will also share case study stories with donors.
