Hope Rescue is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to all of the stray and abandoned dogs in our care.
December 2018 - January 2019
Charity information: Hope Rescue
Hope Rescue opened our very own dog Rescue Centre in Llanharan, South Wales in March 2017, after operating from foster homes and commercial kennels for 12 years.
The majority of the dogs we help are strays from Local Authority pounds who would otherwise be destroyed. We commit to take all the stray dogs from RCT, Merthyr and Torfaen Councils, as well as taking in dogs from owners who can no longer care for them.
Our vision is a future where all pets are provided with a loving home for life.
Our ethos is that no-one gets left behind irrespective of age, breed or medical condition.
We seek to provide our animals with the best quality of care available and we aim to ensure each animal has their emotional and physical well-being met through a suitable environment and protecting them from suffering, injury and disease.
When dogs comes into our care they are assessed before they are adopted which allows us to assess temperament, personality and find the best match for a forever home.
Christmas treats and a scrummy dinner
Activities» Help us to provide a stocking stuffed with treats and toys, for all of our rescue dogs, both in our Rescue Centre and in our network of foster homes
What success will look like
You will get to see pictures and video of all of our dogs receiving their treats on Christmas morning on our Facebook page and website.
Cosy kennels, new beds, bedding and toys
Activities» Your donation will help to provide new raised beds and comfy vet bedding to provide a warm nights sleep while they dream of SantaPaws.
What success will look like
The items purchased for the cosy kennels will be used by our rescue dogs throughout the year to ensure that they have a comfy, safe space to relax while they are with us.
Welfare and rehoming support
Activities» Help to cover to cost of rehabilitation and training for our rescue dogs so that they will be ready for their new families in the New Year.
What success will look like
As our rescue dogs progress through our rehabilitation & rehoming programme, they will be matched with a suitable adopter, we also provide post-adoption support for the new owner
In the short term, your donation will ensure that the dogs at the Rescue Centre will be able to share in the festive spirit and have some extra treats to enjoy.
Your support will also ensure that they receive the training, welfare and veterinary support that they need to progress on to being adopted. They will also be neutered, wormed, flea-treated and vaccinated prior to adoption.
We do not work on a first come first served basis but always strive to find the ideal home for each dog.
It has taken 12 years for Hope Rescue to get to a point where we could purchase our own Rescue Centre. Obviously with any new project comes an element of risk, in our case the financial exposure of having additional staff and facilities to manage.
Our trustees and senior team have worked hard to establish a robust business plan to ensure that we will be able to continue to care for our rescue dogs on an ongoing basis. We are also well supported by 'Team Hope' our network of volunteers.
Donors will receive updates via email on our Cosy Kennels project and our work at Hope Rescue. You would also be welcome to come along and visit the Rescue Centre to see how your donation has been used, please contact our Fundraising Manager Amy Greenfield on 01443 226659 to arrange a visit.

The Hope Rescue Centre is based in Llanharan in Rhondda Cynon Taff, South Wales. Here we house over 40 of our rescue dogs.
We also have a network of foster homes across South Wales who look after dogs who wouldn't fare well in a kennel environment, this can include very young dogs, older dogs and those with serious health concerns.
Our benefit is three-fold:
Firstly, we benefit the rescue dogs in our care, providing them with a safe space where they can receive training and treatment before finding them a new home.
Secondly, we provide a service to owners who need to surrender their dogs for health or personal reasons, or to those who require respite care while they are undergoing hospital treatment.
Thirdly, we provide wonderful volunteering opportunities to those who want to work with animals or gain work experience.
At Hope Rescue we show compassion for both the animals in our care and the people we deal with whatever their circumstances for using our services.
We do not discriminate against the animals we help based on their breed, age or medical condition. No adoptable animal is unnecessarily euthanised due to space or time constraints.
We do not just deal with the problems caused by poor animal welfare, but actively seek to tackle the root causes and work towards being part of the solution
