  • Need

    Need

Ethiopian women suffer economic and sociocultural discrimination: destitute women in Ethiopia are the target group due to being marginalized which equals to having fewer opportunities for education, employment, and personal growth when compared to men. This causes financial and mental breakdown crises as access to skill training is also beyond the reach.

    Solution

An empowering of a marginalized group is done by enabling women to have ownership of assets and access to work. By providing skill training and material support to the targeted destitute women, this will keep them engaged in income generation activities. The rise in household income will then benefit its entire family for a long term impact.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Provide 240 women currently not working in Ethiopia with enough technical tailoring skills

    Activities

» After delivering tailoring training to the trainee, the association gives them certificate for qualifying their skill to help them search jobs

Regular tests, examinations, pre-audits, physical checkup, beneficiaries and comparison with the recommendations of professionals.

  • Impact

    Impact

During tailoring skill training, trainees will overcome many problems being financial, social and mental. by working. This allow them to ‘cure’ the marginalisation through the long life skill training. Therefore the project goal will be insured its durability...

    Risk

One of the risks will be the reaction of the people in the nearby community: rushing into the centre due to the vast majority interest. To tackle this, we will start enrolling people before the centre opens.

    Reporting

We will have their emails and telephone numbers and regularly update them with what happens at the centre.

  • Background

    Location

We want to help tackle the bad means woman are facing in Ethiopia, either being their important roles not being recognised, equal opportunities etc. One of the most powerful ways to overcome this is by clearing socio-economic factors by providing destitute woman with career paths.

    Beneficiaries

Our target group is widows and destitute women who have no means for their family. With this course, not only would the women gain long-term financial support but the family too. Looking rather further ahead, this could lead into a family business as well.
