Because You're Worth It

Reaching out to vulnerable, isolated older people and bringing them together for a lunch and some fun. Finding three things which could improve their lives and linking them with groups who can meet that need. We have tried this and its great so we want to find funds to do much more.

  • Need

    Need

Loneliness and isolation amongst vulnerable older people.
Changing attitudes of some older people who don't think they are worth it or don't want to 'make a fuss'.

    Solution

Provide transport to bring people together for a shared lunch and a chance to talk and have some fun.
Find out what could change to improve peoples lives and link them to organisations who can meet those needs.
The simple act or reaching out, letting people know they are valued and giving them a chance to socialise together makes a huge difference in and of itself.
To then be able to solve some of their issues and help them get the support they need makes this project really effective

Measured by the number of agencies involved in or made aware of the project and the feedback they provide as well as the number of individuals who support and promote the project

    Risk

I had never heard of these people who could help and I didn’t realise it would be so easy. I had a nice man come out to draft proof my doors and it has made such a difference and it really was free.
