We want to provide the basics for children of Persian-speaking families (Afghan/Iranian/Tajik origins) in UK to have access to proper educational activities and nutrition during the school holidays in October and February when parents often work and children are left on their own.
September 2017 - March 2018
Charity information: Persia Educational Foundation
Children of lower income families are often reliant on school-based education and diet. However, during the school breaks, children are often left on their own as parents continue to work. They are often left with no care-givers, educational activities and proper meals. Children of Persian-speaking backgrounds are no different. However, there are no organisations that focus on their education and care during term breaks.
Persia Educational Foundation has a number of consultants with experience in community-based education and Montessori schools who are well-positioned to run week-long educational camps for children. Persia is also in a position to train teens and youth in helping with the education of children. The combination of these two lines of activity can lead to a sustainable model of education and care for children during school/term breaks.
To provide educational opportunities.

We are going to focus on London at this time. We have not yet located the exact whereabouts of the 5 sets of classes, but we will certainly include Barnet and Camden that have a high concentration of Persian-speaking newcomers and low-income families.
Our charity benefits from a substantial network of educators and project managers with a great deal of education and experience. It is also based in London and well-connected with the Persian-speaking populations as well as community-based schools and organisations serving this population.
