Charity information: Aiming High London
We acknowledge that our participants do not spend their summer holidays in a fruitful manner and spend most of the time cooped up indoors. This does not provide opportunity for them to refresh before the start of the new year. Over 75% of parents have responded in the questionnaire that they do not own a car due to poverty and thus are unable to provide recreation and leisure opportunities further afield.
Our main aim is to give our participants some time away from the pressures of school and their families and make new friends and memories. We want our participants to come back with a new appreciation for nature which we hope to accomplish by organizing woodland walks, nature trails and outdoor sports. We will provide plenty of healthy foods and snacks, age appropriate activities and our volunteers will be dedicated to ensure that all participants are enjoying this wholesome experience
To provide time away from the pressures of their school and homelife in a free, fun environment.
Activities» Our volunteers will be setting up workshops and activities and provide a stimulating program to encourage goodwill and a sense of being pampered.
By watching our participants integrate with each other in a friendly manner, see the happy smiles and pressure free faces and feedback from carers.
Our participants to gain appreciation for sports, and healthy outdoor play.
Activities» Our schedule willl incorporate outdoor activities, hikes and woodland trails which will all be done in a fun, inclusive manner to posotive association
» We plan to use the swimming pool on site, assigning volunteers to incompetent swimmers and give everyone a chance to gain vital life saving skills.
By seeing more participants sign up to our year round aerobics and swimming sessions.
To eat healthy and learn how to prepare and present balanced meals.
Activities» wholesome meals presented in a palatable manner with active participation in meal preparation by the campers.
by giving out a questionnaire after our last supper meal where we will gauge to what extent our success in this area is.
We hope to see these children boost their confidence levels when they realize they are equal to their peers, have participated in fun activities and have what to share with their friends when they get back. We also plan to contact teachers to see if these changes have been permanent and if they have a better attention span and social skills. Success will be if we get positive feedback from participants, carers and education providers.
All staff and volunteers recruited, undergo a rigorous checking progress, with an enhanced DBS check. Staff and volunteers attend bi-annual safeguarding training organised by us. All children and users are aware of all procedures relating to safeguarding, and know who to approach should the need arise. We have sent down a representative to check the Health and Safety on the premises. We will have a first aider and CPO on site at all times.
We will send a detailed reports as well as participant testimonies and pictures upon return.

50 young people from low income homes who will not be going away in the summer holidays. We are based in London Borough of Hackney. 90% of our users are London Borough of Hackney residents, Hackney being the second most deprived Local Authority in England and with a disproportionate amount of residents affected by child poverty and welfare dependency.
We have a setup of volunteers and plan to engage participants from our after school activities. We have noticed that these individuals suddenly find themselves with so much spare time and often get into trouble. We plan to target these children but will not hesitate to include any more people who wish to join (other than our regular participants.)
