Insulation of loft area

To save heating costs we need to add insulation to the loft area of our building (which we own). This should also result in more comfortable working (for 50+ people using the premises) and in a reduction in carbon emissions (environmentally sound).

    Need

    Heating costs are too high. We also rent rooms and offices upstairs to Bucks Mind, whose clients would find the extra comfort beneficial.

    Solution

    The added insulation will reduce heating costs and provide more comfort. The building will also heat up quicker.

    Activities

    » Purchase (with financial help) and install (using our volunteers) the insulation materials.

    We can show via utility bills that we have saved money.

    Increase comfort (temperature) in building.

    Activities

    » Purchase (with financial help) and install (using our volunteers) the insulation materials.

    We can ask our staff if they are more comfortable in the winter period.


    Aim 3

    Reduce carbon emissions.

    Activities

    » By adding insulation and conserving heat we will contribute to the government aims of reducing carbon emissions.

    We can calculate the tonnes of carbon saved from the utility bills (by comparing the KWh's used - before and after the insulation)


  • Impact

    Impact

    The insulation materials require no maintenance and will be effective for years to come. Again, utility bills can testify this.

    Risk

    There are no known risks.

    Reporting

    We can email scanned copies of utility bills (on a quarterly basis) and provide an Excel chart of how we compared to the previous years.
