Aardwolf and Mongoose enclosure
Help give our band of mongooses and aardwolf a new enclosure
January 2017 - January 2017
Charity information: N/A'AN KUSE
Francois the aardwolf came to N/a’an ku sê in October 2016 after having been found 600km north of Windhoek by a farmer; his mother having been killed by a predator. For now he is dependent on human care, but he is growing quickly and we need to build him a new home.
Joining Francois in the enclosure are three bubbly banded mongooses. Snippy has been at N/a’an ku sê since 2015. He was an ex-pet whose owners realized that he really did need the most natural life possible.
Francois needs a new home. Once he reaches adulthood we will assess whether he is suitable for release, as at N/a’an ku sê we always endeavour to return the wild to the wild, only those animals too habituated remaining in captivity. And then we make certain that “captivity” resembles their wild lives as closely as possible. For now, he must remain at the sanctuary as he is too young to survive in the wild. We hope to release the baby mongooses once they are old enough.
Build a new home for Francois, Snippy and the two baby mongooses.
Activities» Build a new home for Francois, Snippy and the two baby mongooses.
What success will look like
The gang will be happy and healthy in a new big enclosure where they can hone their natural instincts and be assessed for release once old enough.
Raising these orphaned / conflict animals and hopefully returning Francois and the baby mongooses back into the wild once they are old enough.
We won't raise enough money to fund the enclosure
Donors will receive an individual thank you certificate for their donation.
Donors who contribute more than £25 can suggest names for the two baby mongooses. We will select our top 6 and ask donors to vote.
Donors who contribute more than £100 will be named as a sponsor on the enclosure.

Francois and the mongooses currently call N/a'an ku sê home.
N/a'an ku sê is a wildlife sanctuary based on the outskirts of Windhoek, Namibia.
Francois the orphaned aardwolf and three gorgeous mongooses.
Originating as a small wildlife sanctuary nestled in the Namibian bush, N/a’an ku sê has grown into a world-famous conservation organisation.
We provide a safe haven and second chance for more than 120 orphaned, conflict or injured animals, from lions, leopards and cheetahs to African wild dogs, meerkats and mongooses.
Whenever possible our goal is to release animals back into the wild - only those animals too ill, abused or habituated remain at the sanctuary.
