There are over four million vulnerable people in the UK who cannot afford a healthy diet. Yet thousands of tonnes of in-date food are wasted each year due to packaging errors, out of date promotions and shape standards.

More than 8 million people in Britain live in households that struggle to put enough food on the table, with over half regularly going a whole day without eating, according to estimates of hunger in the UK.
New research from food waste prevention experts, WRAP, estimates that 1.9 million tonnes of food is wasted in the UK grocery supply chain every year.
So….we have hungry people juxtaposed with massive food waste. Common sense suggests putting the two together to work for the good of all.
We save good food destined for waste and send it to charities and community groups who transform it into nutritious meals or pack it into foodbank boxes for vulnerable people. The food we redistribute is fresh, quality and in date surplus from the food industry.
But it’s about more than meals. The organisations we supply food to are places that provide life changing support, as well as food. We are a unique supplier to day care centres, lunch clubs, drop-in centres and breakfast clubs.

Activities» By supplying 12 community groups with food they would otherwise have to buy, we are saving them £15,000.
Redistribution of waste food via Foodshare enables not for profit groups to continue despite cuts to funding; saves community groups money to plough back in to support services.
It is logical that food poverty and surplus can be put together for the benefit of all.
We want to create a climate where it is unacceptable for food manufacturers and suppliers to send waste food that is fit for human consumption to landfill. Partnership with supermarkets etc will demonstrate this.
Partnerships could break down and waste food be sent to landfill.
We build up relationships with providers and reliably collect waste food.
We could run out of money to maintain Foodshare - warehouse rent and insurance, van costs, warehouse supervisor salary.
Regular applications to grant making bodies are made; the community is kept informed and their involvement encouraged.
Regular updates on social media and website.

Transformation CPR is a registered charity, running community projects in this area of multiple deprivation, a conurbation of 40,000. Camborne and Redruth have 5 neighbourhoods in the 10% most deprived according to Cornwall Council’s analysis of the Index of Multiple Deprivation in September 2015. Against this backdrop we have over 60 volunteers providing poverty relief work in Camborne, Pool, Redruth and sometimes beyond.
Any not for profit community group, serving refreshments as part of their outreach; collecting waste food saves food manufacturers and retailers the cost of sending to landfill, thus benefiting the planet, while supporting their social responsibilities.
The food harvested supports those vulnerable members of our area in keeping costs of provision to an acceptable level for their finances.
Transformation CPR has a proven track record of this work over 5 years. Foodshare is Cornwall's solution to the fact that FareShare does not extend to Cornwall, so we have set up an independent operation.
