Face to Face Befriending

The need has come about from our very successful activities programme, and we are wanting to transfer our skills to provide a new prevention and early interventions Befriending Service.

    The service will tackle social isolation and loneliness by providing a volunteer befriending service and encouragement and companionship to engage in social, leisure and community activities.


    We will offer a volunteer based service to older people living in isolation or unable to leave their home.

    The last ten years, have proved it's possible to find community-led solutions to supporting


    » We provide community led activities such as healthy living, dance, regular speakers, outings and the RSM Centre is open daily.

    By recruiting more volunteers and delivering a home service face-to-face.

  • Impact


    We hope eventually, as we provide transport to bring the older people into the community service to meet their peer group and join in all our activity programmes.


    Insufficient volunteers, if this is the case we will have to reduce the scale of the service. We cannot foresee this happening.


    We will personally contact donors, invite them to the centre, thank on our website, Newsletters, social media with permission.

  • Background


    We are based in Rotherfield St Martin, East Sussex.
    The project will be based in the RSM Centre, Rotherfield. The RSM Centre is open to all Monday 10-12noon, Tuesday-Friday 10-4pm with a 1hour lunch break. Monday pm we hire the Village Hall and offer a variety of talks and entertainment with coffee and homemade cake.


    Older people in the local community and the surrounding areas.

We are redefining care for the elderly; proving that hands on and sustained support can be delivered cost efficiently and professionally by the community itself.
