Online Log and Support Forum
We’re aiming to raise funds for our project ‘Online Log & Support Forum’, which will enable us to monitor and highlight issues within the pharmacy sector and better support the needs of our volunteers and partner organisations.
6 to 12 months
Charity information: Pharmacist Support
Our Listening Friends Scheme provides free and confidential volunteer staffed telephone service for those in the profession facing stressful situations (eg bullying, bereavement, exam pressures). Volunteers are spread across Great Britain and currently supported via an online call log and forum which is unfortunately outdated and no longer meets the needs of the organisation or its volunteers and the system itself is unsupported
A new ‘Online Log & Support Fourm’ will enable us build a picture of the issues facing those in the profession today and help steer our social policy work to improve conditions for those working in the sector. It will also help the charity to identify gaps in support and enhance charity communications in general, enabling us to develop similar discussion forums with partner organisations and supporters.
To better monitor helpline activity and provide volunteers with a usable support tool and system
Activities» This project will enable volunteers to monitor and report on helpline calls, the forum will enable them to communicate and support one another better
What success will look like
Success will be measured by the feedback we receive from our volunteers and users of the call log and forum. we will also measure success in our monthly reporting
The Online log and support forum will provide a safe environment in which a pharmacy professional can talk through any issues they may be facing – personally or professionally. Pharmacists in their professional ‘helping’ role often find it difficult to ask for help thus heightening their sense of isolation. This will give them the opportunity to communicate, support one another, post questions and highlight support needs and also for charity staff to upload and share useful documents
We know through enquiries to our helpline that there is more pressure on pharmacists to work longer hours, meet targets, manage budgets and deal with government cuts. This is why the current system is not meeting our needs. A new ‘Online Log & Support Fourm’ will enable us build a picture of the issues facing those in the profession today and help steer our social policy work to improve conditions for those working in the sector
We will utilize our website and monthly e-newletter, provide case studies, use social media, emails, annual review and newsletters. We will evaluate the project and provide a report to all supporters.

Pharmacist Support is an independent charity supporting pharmacists and their families, former pharmacists, students of pharmacy and pre-registration trainees facing difficult challenges in life across Great Britain. This project will be accessible to all pharmacies and pharmacists who are currently on or not on the register.
Pharmacists and their families, students of pharmacy, pre-registration trainees, small community pharmacies and larger pharmacies across Great Britain. If we are successful in getting funding for this project there is also potential for us to support pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff.
Pharmacist Support is the only independent charity working for pharmacists and their families, former pharmacists and pharmacy students to provide help and support in times of need in Great Britain. Our sole aim is to relieve poverty and financial hardship for pharmacists, former pharmacists and their families and students of pharmacy, and to provide effective support and information to promote a positive existence.
