  • Need

Working carers often find it difficult to relay information about their situation to others in the workpalce. Pharmacists in their professional 'helping' role may find it hard to convey that they need time off to look after a loved one, friend or relative. Project ‘Carers Passport’ is a chance to recognise and support the valuable work these individuals do.

The ‘Carers Passport’ will help individuals who have specific caring responsibilities, to be supported in their place of work. It will help carers identify their own needs and help others understand their situation and the impact this additional responsibility can have on their worklife.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To support carers in within the pharmacy profession

» To create a Carers Passport for the pharmacy profession, which will be there to help employers support the wellbeing of their staff

    What success will look like

Success will be measured by the feedback we receive from carers within the pharmacy profession in the aftermath of our campaign.

  • Impact

The ‘Carers Passport’ will ultimately be there to help employers support the wellbeing of their staff and help ease the burden and stresses of carers within the pharmacy proffession in juggling work commitments with the needs of a loved one.

We know through enquiries to our helpline that there is more pressure on pharmacists to work longer hours, meet targets, manage budgets and deal with government cuts. The main risk is that employers wont engage with the Carers Passport. By communicating and working with pharmacies we hope that they will come onboard with the project and therefore reduce the risk.

We will utilize our website and monthly e-newletter, provide case studies, use social media, emails, annual review and newsletters. We will evaluate the project and provide a report to all supporters.
