Training employers in Mental Health First Aid.
To increase the awareness of how to deal with mental health in the workplace.
To give practical skills to employers to help employees withy mental health problems
To save employers money from improved employee performance, attendance and retention

    Addressing the lack of understanding of employers of people with mental health problems that can lead to preventable workplace problems such as:
    Absenteeism
    Sickness
    Disputes
    Poor performance
    Bullying

    Solution

    By providing practical training to employers in:
    What is mental health?
    Suicide and depression
    Anxiety, eating disorders, and self harm
    Psychosis
    The early signs of a mental health issue
    Feeling confident helping someone experiencing a mental health issue
    Provide help on a first aid basis
    Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
    Help stop a mental health issue from getting worse
    Help someone recover faster
    Guide someone towards the right support
    Reduce the stigma of mental health

    Help employers recognise the symptoms of mental health issues and provide initial help

    Feedback on completion of course and after 6 months

    Impact

    Reduction in employer costs around absence and poor performance (research suggests and average sized employer will save up to £1000 a year in costs as a result of the training)
    Better understanding of mental health in the workplace
    Reduction in stigma
    A space for employers to be able to talk to employees about mental health in their workplace

    Risk

    Not enough funding to match demand - we are applying for other funds to address this
    High quality trainers - we are recruiting a bank of staff to be able to have the capacity
