New outings for older people
To provide a new programme of outings for local older people aged over 55. Our project will help local older people to remain active, less socially isolated and a valued part of our community.
Charity information: Cornwater Clubs (Ravenshead) Limited
Our local rural communities include above average numbers of older people and there is also significant deprivation in parts of two of the villages we serve.
There is a lack of local services for older people and they can become isolated, lonely, their physical and mental health can suffer and ultimately they can lose their independence.
Our project will bring local older people together to take part in a programme of outings to local places of interest and eateries.
The outings will reduce the social isolation of local older people and their physical and mental health will be boosted. Local adults will support the outings as volunteers, adding to the social interaction.
To help local older people to be less socially isolated and boost their physical and mental health.
Activities» We will run a programme of stimulating outings for older people, supported by local volunteers.
We will collect data on the number of local older people benefiting from outings.
We will survey those taking part at the end of the project to demonstrate the benefits gained.
Ultimately, the longer term physical and mental well-being of those taking part will benefit and they will be enabled to remain independent for longer.
We will demonstrate this by monitoring those taking part during their continued involvement with the Cornwater Clubs.
We don't see any major risks as the project is part of our on-going work.
We will thank donors for their support and provide an option to receive a summary of the project at its completion.

Two of the villages we serve, Blidworth and Rainworth, are former colliery communities. They contain some significant areas of deprivation.
There are higher numbers of older people locally than average, particularly in the village of Ravenshead, where we are based.
Local older people aged over 55 will benefit directly from our project.
Local adults will benefit as volunteers supporting the project.
Local carers / family of those older people attending the outings programme will benefit through respite.
We have been established for 15 years and know our local communities very well. We are the only organisation supporting older people in this way within a 10 mile radius.
We have a long track record of supporting local older people - meals, activities, therapeutic services etc. .
