  • Need

The centre is located in an area of high deprivation with many people living in isolation. The aim of the weekly sessions is to provide a mechanism through which residents can meet new people, develop friendships & access services & information to help reduce isolation & enable them to reach their full potential.

The project will start with a Christmas lunch and entertainment in December 2016 at which people will be invited to suggest topics/activities for future sessions thereby encouraging ownership of the sessions going forward, increasing confidence & establishing long term positive relationships.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To help reduce social isolation of residents of all ages within the local community.

» Weekly drop-in sessions will encourage residents to develop lasting positive friendships to build confidence & reduce isolation.

    What success will look like

Launch the Cake & Chat Group in December 2016

  • Impact

We will monitor number of attenders in order to measure an increase in the number of regular attenders/users of the centre.
We will also ask each participant to take a brief survey to measure:
    - Increased confidence
    - Feeling more positive
    - Developed new relationships
    - Learnt new skills

It may be difficult to get people to attend the sessions if they don't know anyone else or are feeling low in confidence.
We will work with our partners to identify people who would benefit from the sessions and will operate a buddy system whereby when someone new attends a session a friendly face is on hand to make them feel welcome and comfortable.

We will put regular updates on our Facebook page and website and provide an update newsletter on a quarterly basis.
