Cinnamon Project Incubator
To incubate and offer capacity building support to brilliant church-based social action projects – helping them to replicate nationally, and make a transforming difference in communities across the UK.
January 2017 - December 2017
Charity information: The Cinnamon Network
Many churches identify needs and problems in their local community, such as homelessness, food poverty, unemployment, debt, anti-social behaviour, and many more, but do not know how to begin to meet the need. They often have the willing volunteers, buildings and resources, but require support and ideas to get going.
Cinnamon has identified 30 great projects for churches to start, however there are gaps in our menu particularly for more complex issues such as mental health and domestic abuse.
By offering a menu of "off the shelf" replicable projects which have a track-record of effectively targeting social problems in their community, Cinnamon is helping churches to respond effectively and efficiently to the needs they see around them.
Through our incubator we hope to identify new projects that have a track record of successfully addressing the more complex issues above and have the potential to be replicated nationally, and help them to rapidly expand and grow in impact across UK.
To identify up to 8 new social action projects that have the potential to be replicated nationally
Activities» Run a Cinnamon Project Lab event; a national search for the next generation of projects which meet growing needs in society.
Up to 8 projects identified.
To run an incubation programme for up to 8 social action projects, helping national replication.
Activities» Run an incubation programme of consultancy, coaching, training, seminars, marketing and funding support.
Develop the incubator programme and run for up to 8 projects. Each project replicating up to 3 times in year one.
The project will help to identify and strengthen new church-based social action projects that addressing complex pressing issues in communities across the UK. These projects will have their capacity built to enable them to be replicated across the UK, in order to activate local churches to transform their communities and support those most in social need.
Not being able to identify new projects: Our team are constantly on the look out for good ideas, and our Project Lab social media campaign helps us to extend our search event wider (up to 300k people reached in 2016).
Projects not successfully replicating: Each project is reviewed annually against our Cinnamon Foundations review which is like an MOT for charities that helps them to identify areas of strength & weakness, and what is preventing successful replication.
Annual impact report, including social return on investment.
Quarterly update reports (if desired by donor).
Donors will be invited to visit projects in the Cinnamon Project Incubator.
