Ulster Youth Junior Choir
A new national youth choir for 11-14 years leading to progression to already existing Ulster Youth Training Choir and the senior Ulster Youth Choir
July 2017 - August 2017
Charity information: Ulster Youth Choir
To provide opportunities for young singers in Northern Ireland aged 11-14 to participate in high quality music making with an already established youth choir organisation. This opportunity does not currently exist.
By creating a new "junior" choir young singers will be able to take part in short residential choral/music courses and have high profile concert opportunities.
Create a national junior choir in Northern Ireland for 11-14 year old singers
Activities» 3 day residential course culminating in an evening performance. This will be lead by an experienced team of music and pastoral staff
What success will look like
Success will be measurable in terms of participation figures, concert performances and a legacy as young singers progress to the older choirs.
The longer term goal is to introduce young singers to high quality choral teaching, improve musicianship and skills and guide singers as they progress through to our older youth choirs.
The risks include low participation figures and lack of funding from sponsors and donors. In order to allow the project to happen the organisation will need to secure external funding to cover approximately 50% of the course costs so as to reduce any financial barriers preventing participation of young musicians.
Donors will receive progress reports and be invited to open rehearsals and final concert performance.

Campbell College School
65 young singers aged 11-14 from across all regions of Northern Ireland
We have almost 20 years experience providing high quality choral tuition to youth choirs and are the only province wide organisation in Northern Ireland offering this service. We also already work with singers of this age group in local schools through our outreach project and this residential course allows us to build on the educational experience started in the outreach work.
