Ipad Mini Library Project
We implement iPad mini libraries on paediatric oncology wards, to enable the children to maintain crucial access to family and friends whilst undergoing treatment. Recent studies by the charity CLIC highlights the importance of maintaining relationships whilst in hospital or away from home.
Charity information: Ben's Heroes Trust
The iPad Mini Library is trying to solve the following issue:
Children maintaining relationships whilst undergoing treatment in hospital or away from home (as per recent studies by the charity CLIC which highlights the importance of these relationships). Ben, who tragically died of cancer in December 2010, aged 9, found his iPad invaluable in allowing him to stay in touch with family and school friends as well as distracting him during long and often painful procedures.
The iPads allow the children to Skype their family and school friends to maintain these crucial relationships. Apps can be used to distract patients undergoing painful or distressing procedure.
