  • Need

Our charity works exclusively with street children and vulnerable youth. The most obvious need of street children is a safe place to live in, their care needs taken care of and access to education. This project is combining the next stage of the building of a home for them which is owned by the charity rather than renting a private residence with the necessary financing to grant access to higher education.

The two largest strains on our charity's finances are rent and our children's annual school fees. For the past few years we have been building a large home for them which will not only increase the sustainability of the project but cutting one of our largest annual costs out entirely but will provide them with better living conditions in a purpose built environment. This will enable us as an organisation to fund placing those sitting GCSEs and A levels into better (more expensive) schooling.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To build the roof for the building project.

» Raise the required amount of funding

We will provide photos of the completed roof

    Aim 2

To provide financing for street children to access education and higher education.

» Raise the required amount of funding

We can provide copies of bank transcripts to schools and receipts from schools.

  • Impact

The most long term change is happy, healthy fully rehabilitated former street children being active participants of the local community, in full-time gainful employment as a result of access to higher education that we have provided. That they will be able to fully take care of themselves and never have to return to homelessness, like those who have already graduated from our program.

The risk regarding the build would be to not secure enough funding. We have minimalised the risk by having a clear, staged building project. We do not commence the next part until funding for completion of that stage has been secured, it also gives donors confidence to see the work already completed & to have clear funding goals. Regarding education, there is always the possibility of some dropping out or running into difficulties. This is why we provide a loving, supportive home environment.

We maintain a presence on social media for most frequent updating but we also send out email newsletters and communicate with donors directly via email and skype.

  • Background

    Nyamirambo, Kigali, Rwanda

Primarily the local street children, but also their families after reconciliation has occurred where possible. The local community and police force as they no longer have to deal with the crime, anti-social behaviour and substance abuse that comes with most street children but instead have positive members of the community contributing to the benefit of society

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

The charity was build around a local outreach project started by a local former street child and reformed gang leader, his personal experiences places him in a unique postion to help the children through rehabilitation. His wife is a qualified psychologist and the two of them live with the children 24/7. This provides the youth with the stability and constant care they require for successful rehabilitation
