Reach for the Sky
Reach for the Sky is an all encompassing program of after school and extracurricular activities (with a strong emphasis on health/fitness and integration with the public) targeting Side By Side's awesomely unique student body
September 2017 - July 2018
Charity information: Side By Side (Children) Limited
1) School leavers with SEN struggle to find their place in the world after leaving the safe confines of their specialist setting.
2) Many, if not most children with special needs face multiple challenges when it comes to maintaining a healthy weight. Food aversions, the side effects of medications, and mobility limitations make these children even more susceptible to being overweight or obese than other children.
Reach for the Sky aims to alleviate both of the above problems with one amazing program.
By providing our users with hugely increased opportunities for interaction with the world at large utilising 'get fit and healthy' mediums, children and young adults with SEN will have the chance to get fit
Our Users will be encouraged to maintain diaries detailing their journey to better health. BMI, amount
The greatest risk to getting this exciting project off the ground is a lack of funding which you dear Donor will hopefully mitigate. There are no other potential risks and we are confident that Reach for the Sky will be successful in fulfilling it's stated aims and goals.
Donors will initially receive Thank You letters for their support of this project. They'll then be given the opportunity to opt in to our monthly newsletter which will detail the development of 'Reach for the Sky' in addition to our other activities.

Side by Side is located in the London borough of Hackney (2nd most deprived Local Authority nationally) and caters to children with Special Educational Needs from Hackney & Haringey (18th most deprived LA nationally). Side by Side has been providing specialist care and education in the area since 1996 and is growing at an average rate of 12% per annum.
Project beneficiaries will be the current and future student population @ Side by Side.
Side by Side opened it's doors in 1996 with only 3 children in a private home. We have since evolved into a fully fledged institution which provides a holistic approach to the care and education of children with Special Educational Needs. Parents, Therapists, Teachers and Carers work hand-in-hand to bring out the best in each individual child. Reach for the Sky will build on our success to give our users the very best chance possible
