  • Need

The young people we target come from deprived backgrounds and their week-ends are unsupervised. This often leads to bullying, victimization and anti-social behaviour.

At the same time, their disadvantage results in low self esteem. They feel deprived in comparison to their peers and don't have the emotional energy to invest in succeeding at school. This leaves disadvantaged young people feeling like a failure.

    1. We will provide them with a productive and structured Sunday that will imbue them with positive energy and reduce bullying and anti-social behaviour in Hackney.

    2. Innovative activities, some help with their homework and nutritious food will develop their self esteem and general sense of happiness and well-being. This will encourage them to apply more effort in school and to aim for success in all areas of their lives.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Ensure young people spend their Sundays in a productive and safe way.

» Provide young people with productive recreational activities during Sundays.

    What success will look like

Young people will engage and be stimulated with the activities and not hang out in the streets.

    Aim 2

No child should go hungry to school.

» Provide young people with healthy and nutritious breakfast on school days.

    What success will look like

Young people will eat nutritious food and be active. They will become health conscious and in the long run achieve better in the classroom and on the playground.

    Aim 3

Develop self esteem and potential in disadvantaged young people.

» Provide opportunities where young people can see themselves as achieving and successful during the Breakfast and Sunday Clubs

    What success will look like

The young people will have a chance to shine during the activities. Later they will achieve improved academic results and present a more self confident outlook on life.

  • Impact

The project will ensure that young people remain in education and find suitable employment. This is because their increased confidence and ability to succeed will spur them on to achieve and find satisfaction in the school environment. This success will help them find suitable employment and eventually break out of the cycle of disadvantage.

We are concerned that some of the young people who have a history of acting in a negative manner might act out at the clubs. In order to mitigate this concern we will ensure that the projects are supervised by trained mentors and also that the activities are well suited to our service users and fosters in them a sense of satisfaction so that they will not resort to their previous negative behaviors.

We will keep them updated through sending out pictures, anecdotes and success rates. Regular focus meetings, surveys and informal discussions will help us record the success of our projects and we will send out reports to all our donors.
