Need
Need
Many of the young people we know have unhealthy lives, low self esteem, little hope for their future, limited ability to take opportunities and negative attitudes towards their community. The majority of their families receive State or Local Authority Benefits due to low incomes or worklessness. These young people are at risk of: exclusion from school, becoming NEET (not in education employment or training), becoming a young parent, exploitation, or getting involved with gangs.
Solution
The gym and games room will host positive activities designed to develop participants in areas important to their social and economic futures.
We create opportunities for young people to:
• Grow their self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence.
• Improve key social skills
• Improved their attitudes and behaviour towards communities (i.e, families, peers, teachers and/or employers).

Impact
Impact
Positive activities that improve social and emotional capabilities in turn improve employability, educational attainment and health reducing the cost to social welfare and the health. Access to positive actives and volunteering for vulnerable people improves health, employability and community cohesion and reduces isolation in the elderly. Given the representation of ex offenders activities help reduce crime, violence & anti social behavior.
Risk
Not all the refurbishment costs might be raised. We would deliver part of the work leaving elements for future years.
Refurbishment project work could be delayed causing disruption to services. We will carefully project manage proceedings and develop contingency plans for disruption.
As a small team we are vulnerable to staff sickness and absence. We have a strong record with staff retention and engagement and have sessional staff available at short notice in case of staff absence.
Reporting
Donors are next sent a follow up after the donation period has ended outlining the result or impact of their donation.
Donors have a choice of any future correspondence.

Background
Location
We work alongside young people who live on or around Roehampton's and Putney’s Alton and Ashburton estates in the borough of Wandsworth; some of the largest council estates in the UK. On the Alton estate some 31% of children and young people are living in poverty (ONS), deprivation is in the top 5%, health deprivation in the top 15% and employment deprivation in the top 20% (ONS). Wandsworth has higher than London average levels of young people who are not in education, employment or training.
Beneficiaries
Young people who live on the margins of society. Many have low self esteem, little hope for their future, a limited ability to take opportunities, and negative attitudes and behaviours towards their community. The majority of their families receive State or Local Authority Benefits due to low incomes or worklessness. They are at risk of: exclusion from school, becoming NEET (not in education employment or training), becoming a young parent, exploitation, or getting involved in gangs and crime.
