Eating to Outsmart Cancer

Nutrition for people with cancer is a key ingredient to rebuilding a damaged immune system and helping people to get well. When you are ill it is tough to keep on top of this. Being able to give our clients a juicer and a box of organic veg weekly will make a massive difference to their lives.

  • Need

    Need

People diagnosed with cancer in the UK have very limited access to the benefits of using an integrative approach to their recovery. This is using the best of conventional and complementary and alterative medicine together. Nutrition is a key factor for wellbeing. An easy way help is to get juicing with organic veg and100's of our clients already doing this and feeling great. A lot of people however, can't afford organic veg let alone juicers and we think this is wrong. We want to help them.

    Solution

It will enable the charity to support more people with a simple solution. We don't have sufficient funds to buy a juicer for everyone who comes to us for support and whilst some can afford some organic food occasionally many can't and it's just unfair. Everyone can take part in this - it's a simple way to get good nutrition into your body at a time when you feel so poorly and in some cases just can't eat solid food - this is a common problem which is ignored.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Give people with cancer the knowledge and practical help to boost their recovery with nutrition

    Activities

    » Organise a juicathon
» Workshops - Eat to Outsmart Cancer across the UK for people and their carers/family with cancer.

Be able to say 'Yes' to funding juicers and organic veg and get them to provide feedback and photos in action as well as evaluating their experiences.

  • Impact

    Impact

We have the evidence to show the benefits of this already and more and more evidence is surfacing about eating the right foods. We can build on this and ensure as many people with diagnosed with cancer have this included in their thinking when they are diagnosed rather than when it is too late. They will not get this advice from hospitals/oncologists sadly but we can build the bridge to ensure they do

    Risk

The increase in the numbers of those being diagnosed with cancer is on the increase at a rate no -one originally perceived. Evidence that cancer is a lifestyle disease is not commonly recognised despite the evidence. The demand might well outstrip our ability to supply. We will deal with this by negotiating with suppliers to bring the costs down so we can help more people.

    Reporting

Newsletters, social media and through our own network of contacts. We will have data collected from our evaluations of those who are gifted juicers and organic veg and share this data with our donors. We will film testimonials and share the experiences of those who agree to be filmed.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

We are the only charity that directly supports people with cancer to take an integrative approach to enable them to have the best chance of reclaiming their health. We have been doing this for 10 years and in that time have helped more than 1,800 people with cancer and their family/carers improve their quality of life and take charge of their health and have access to treatment unavailable on the NHS.
