A Personalised Breast Cancer Support Programme

We help people through breast cancer by providing personalised emotional, physical & practical support. This is made up of 12 hours of 1-2-1 support including two hours with a healthcare professional. Our services are provided free of charge & so we need to raise £1,000 for every person we support.

  • Need

    Need

A diagnosis of breast cancer and medical treatments can be physically and emotionally gruelling. 55,200 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year, which means that our services are vital to helping people by providing the support that medical treatment alone can't.

Our supportive services are designed to help address the specific impact of breast cancer, which may include nausea, hair loss, anxiety, loss of confidence, menopausal symptoms and financial issues.

    Solution

Our personalised breast cancer support is made up of 12 hours of 1-2-1 appointments and includes advice on practical things like money and work, combating stress, exhaustion, nausea and healthy eating. Above all, there will always be someone to talk to. This is all provided free of charge. There is no need for a doctor’s referral and so visitors are welcome to use our services at any point of their breast cancer journey, whether that is at diagnosis, during treatment or in recovery.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide a free personalised programme of support to people affected by breast cancer

    Activities

» The money raised through The Big Give will enable us to help even more people who desperately need our practical, emotional and physical support.

    What success will look like

The more money we raise the more people we can put through our programme of care. We want to be there for anyone who may need some extra help.

  • Impact

    Impact

Our project will help more people affected by breast cancer to cope with the detrimental effect that diagnosis and treatment can have on them and those close to them. By providing 1-2-1 support specific to their needs we are ensuring that they are able to live the best life possible long after their treatment ends. We measure our success with an annual survey of our visitors.

    Risk

The risk would be to not meet our annual fundraising targets. We monitor our financials on a very regular basis so any shortfall would be flagged in advance and plans put in place to mitigate this kind of circumstance. We are increasing head count within our fundraising teams in order to raise more income and have streamlined our fundraising practices in order to be more cost-efficient.

    Reporting

All of our generous donors will be thanked and given an update on the amount raised and the impact that this has made on our ability to provide support to people who access our services. We will also share the success of the campaign on our website, social media and in our newsletter.

    Beneficiaries

Our vision is for everyone affected by breast cancer to get the help they need. In addition to our personalised programme of support for people affected by breast cancer we also offer up to four hours of counselling to someone close to them to ensure they also have the support they need during this difficult time. There is no geographical restriction to our service: anyone affected by breast cancer can visit a centre at any time, use our outreach services or access our on-line resources.
