Provide information ,advice and support to people wanting to volunteer their time to help others. Many of the individuals we work with are people looking to keep active in their retirement and wish to do this through undertaking volunteering within their local communities

Many people want to stay active during retirement and feel a useful member of their local community. Staying active helps people live independently for longer in their own homes . It also helps with general well being and reduces loneliness and isolation that can have devastating effects on health.
By undertaking volunteering people will have a smoother transition into retirement ; be able to maintain existing skills or learn new ones . They will make new friends and feel active and engaged with their local community . Through funding to support our work with individuals we will be able to continue our work to support older people find the right volunteering opportunity that helps them get the most out of their retirement .
People in and around Swindon will have access to information and advice about volunteering
Activities» Operate drop-in sessions Monday-Friday for people to find out about volunteering
What success will look like
Success will be continuing to offer services to the 1500 people who make contact with us each year
Older people will be better able to remain active in their communities
Activities» Hold information events for older people on being engaged in their communities
» Work with local charities to develop volunteering opportunities more likely to appeal to older people

Our project will enable more people take up volunteering to help charities and community groups in and around Swindon .People taking up volunteering will feel more engaged in their local communities, remain active , make new friends whilst helping others .
We will collect feedback from users of our services and develop these as case studies .

Volunteer Centre Swindon is based in accessible offices in Swindon Town Centre
We were established in 1999 and have a tradition of delivering projects to support volunteering .
For this project specifically those over 55 years of age. We will work with any individual or group who wishes to volunteer their time to help others. Most users of our services are disadvantaged , long term unemployed or unable to work through health related issues or is an older person.
Over 250 local charities and community groups that use our services to help them recruit volunteers
We are only organisation providing this service in Swindon. We hold Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation , the quality standard from NCVO
