Keep our Meals Refrigerated

The Kosher meals delivered to sick patients in Hospitals are held in transit in our purpose built freezer warehouse. This freezer needs replacing. The cost is £70,000 and it can hold up to the 30,000 meals at a time. We have a sponsor for £35,000 and need a match.

  • Need

    Need

We are aiming to replace a freezer that is over 20 years old. All goods are stored at a temperate of minus 20 centigrade. The temperatures are monitored and recorded on a regular basis to ensure compliance with our STS certificate.

    Solution

We want to ensure that our equipment is compliant with health and safety and that our patients receive kosher nutritious meals that meet the highest standard.

HKMS needs to ensure all its capital equipment are in good operating condition and cannot afford that any of its fundamental equipment is not in working order.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To comply with Health & Safety Standards

    Activities

» We will ensure that both our vehicle and refrigerator is in good working order and complies with Health & Safety.

We hold a STS certificate that is reviewed annually.

    Aim 2

To operate efficiently and deliver meals promptly to hospital

    Activities

» Ensure that we answer responses promptly and to deliver meals within 24 hours of enquiry

By keeping prompt records of all enquiries and matching with delivery dates.

  • Impact

    Impact

HKMS is the only provider of Kosher Meals to Jewish patients in Hospitals. Our aim is to maintain a high quality standard of meals, service and feedback. We want to ensure that hospitals are aware of dietary requirements and knowledgeable in the process of warming up the meals to comply with the stringent halachic requirements. Our LIaison Officer is in contact with all Hospitals ensuring compliance and receiving feedback that is reviewed at Committee Meetings.

    Risk

The risk is not being able to raise the funds and therefore losing the pledged funds. Additionally if
G-d forbid our freezer breaks down, we will be unable to support the 50,000 patients who are relying on our meals annually.

    Reporting

We keep an up to date database and pride ourselves in maintaining good donor relationship and informing them of the progress and achievements of our Organisation.
