  • Need

Many children from London's poorest families have little or no access to play opportunities during the summer holidays. Kids' City works in a number of South London schools where more than 40% of pupils face extreme poverty. Having provided Ofsted registered playschemes for over twenty years Kids' City want to ensure that opportunities to access these opportunities are open to children whose parents could not otherwise afford them.

Kids' City will provide free places to children who meet the qualification criteria for the pupil premium in the thirteen eligible primary schools where the charity operates. In addition Kids' City will provide escorted pick ups from three of the schools we support where more than 40% of pupils qualify for he pupil premium. Children will attend Ofsted registered play based playschemes that operate from 8.00 to 6.00 Monday to Friday for five weeks of the summer.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide free play opportunities to children living in poverty.

» Five weeks of summer play from 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

    What success will look like

By providing over 180 places (individual child / days) at our summer playschemes to pupils who are eligible for the pupil premium from our partner primary schools.

  • Impact

Children will have take part in Ofsted registered fun playschemes with other primary aged children in a safe and caring environment. They will have healthy snacks and will take part in a wide range of physical, creative and imaginative play.
We will demonstrate the success of the project through the amount of free places we are able to offer to support children from families eligible for the pupil premium.

We will work closely with schools and promote opportunities through our own after-school clubs.
We will also provide escorted pick-ups and drop offs from the schools we work with which have the highest rates of child poverty as we know that children from the poorest families rarely access services and have significant barriers to travelling even relatively short distnaces.

We will report on the success of our playschemes through our website, twitter and facebook.
