No One Left Behind

We intend to run a summer sleep-away program for teenage boys from inner city areas facing difficult circumstances. This allows them the opportunity to rejuvenate in a safe atmosphere away from the pressures of home and ensures they have a fun summer just like the rest of their friends.

  • Need

Young people from destitute homes usually remain home all summer with nothing to fill their time. With barely enough money for bread on the table, extras like summer activities are completely out of question. Their parents are often required to work throughout the holiday period in order to make ends meet, and limited parental involvement, coupled with extreme boredom, often means the teens are hanging out with the wrong crowd, or otherwise getting into trouble.

Our sleep away program will provide scholarships to those unable to pay and allocate slots to those most in need. For many teens, a productive summer spells the difference between a lousy school year vs. a successful one. Feeling a sense of belonging has an enormous impact and helps to keep them motivated and hopeful. Spending time with like-minded individuals also helps them develop new friendships and creates wonderful memories that keep them afloat during the more challenging times.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide children of the poor within our community with a fun and productive summer experience.

» We will be hiring voluntary experienced teen counsellors who will organise a fun program with sports and recreation for the young people in our care.

    What success will look like

We will have been successful if we are able to enroll all those applying for scholarships.

    Aim 2

To provide nutritious meals and snacks for the duration of the program.

» We will be providing hot meals every day as well as an abundance of healthy snacks.

    What success will look like

Hot meals and snacks provided daily.

    Aim 3

To provide a safe environment so that they can have a fulfilling summer experience.

» Our counsellors are all CRB checked and have extensive experience in dealing with teens.

    What success will look like

    Happy participants.

  • Impact

Our program will enable our participants to relax and rejuvenate in a fun environment so they are not burnt out before the start of the new school year. We will know we have accomplished this if our participants look forward to the re-start of school. This will ensure their minds are fresh to absorb the material being studied and will enable them to do better academically.

We would have a problem if premises for the project are not available or if there is a lack of staff. We have dealt with this by provisionally booking accommodation and a group of staff members.

Donors will be kept updated regarding the progress of our project via email.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Our previous work has given us lots of inside information in regards to the financial status of many in the area and we can therefore ensure that our program benefits those most needy. We have also successfully carried out this program previously and therefore feel confident that we have the expertise and wherewithal to do this again.
