  • Need

Providing our families with the opportunity for additional respite care means that for many it will be THE only opportunity to get a good nights sleep. Due to the nature of their child's illness, most of our parents seldom get a full nights sleep. This often impacts on the whole family, siblings being tired at school and under performing, parents being completely run down and lethargic. We can help to take these pressures away, even if it is only for one extra night.

Taking away the pressures of caring for a child with a life limiting, life ending illness and providing the family with an opportunity to do something they wouldn't usually be able to. A trip out, a meal even just a night in front of the TV doing nothing. But most of all enabling them to get a good nights sleep.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide additional respite care for our families.

» Duvet Day- Aimed at companies and local businesses. Staff will purchase raffle tickets for the opportunity to have a day off under the duvet.
» Sleep Walk- A 10k and 5k sponsored walk through Astley park for Derian House.
» Bedtime Audio Book- A Beautiful, funny and unique collection of bedtime stories produced as an audio download.
» Bed head Days- Schools, Brownies, Guides....forget the hair routine and step out in bedtime style for just a £1 donation.

Reaching our target which will enable us to provide at least one additional nights respite care.

  • Impact

The opportunity to engage with the wider community. From individuals to social groups, organisations to companies. Every person will have at some point suffered a poor nights sleep and the implications of this. So our campaign will not only raise the awareness of the pressures and strains some of our families are under day to day but they will also be more aware of the importance of derian house for our families and the importance of respite care through hospices.

Promotion, engagement and resource from the hospice. With a very small team of fundraisers and a huge catchment area, it is important that we are SMART with our approach and manage the expectations both in and out of the hospice.

Through the underpinning of our database management system. Which will ensure that people are only engaged with the things that they want to be. Our literature provides an opt in and opt out option. This along with our bespoke fundraising packs.
