Christmas Hamper Outreach
Building on the foundation established by the food bank we established earlier this year. Working with statutory and charitable referral partners, we are preparing to reach at least 100 families/households with a hamper of food this Christmas. A number of our recipients are homeless.
Two months, annually.
Charity information: Faith Life Centre
1) Supply food to address short term need.
2) Show care and attention with personal delivery at a time when isolated individuals and households feel most lonely.
3) Refer to other services run by our Life Centre and other partner charities in order to address underlying issues in order to address medium and longer term needs.
To reach at least 100 families/households with this project
Activities» Mobilise our volunteer base, peer networks and funds to identify need, create hampers and personally deliver them.
By measuring the number of households/families we successfully deliver Christmas Hampers too.
By analysing the reasons for households receiving hampers.
The growth of the scale of the project is a key indicator.
As well as this, tracking the reasons behind the need will help us offer additional services to recipients.
This way we can also continue and develop contact in order to offer better support.
In addition, better understanding of the original reason for need will help us address these and other related issues in future.
Risks include: cashflow and reliability of material suppliers.
Financial risks are mitigated by our own contingency funds, which cover the cost of the 100 hamper goal.
Our suppliers have been carefully selected a) they are charities and social enterprises in their own right and b) this year they received significant funding for the continuation of their projects and c) we have a food bank with reserves available if needed.
We will publish the results on our website, across our growing social media presence, in public meetings and hopefully in the regional press.

Central Manchester - 5 Mary Street. This commercial, city centre location is in line of sight of the prison (Strangeways), has rough sleepers down the street and is in the red light district. This project will reach some ex-offenders and homeless people, but also begin to address the huge need in our area.
According to government data, our postcode is amongst the most deprived in the country in terms of:
Health, Education, Housing, Crime, and Living Environment.
We are located in the community, resourced by the community. This gives us unique location, insight and genuine care for this area. In addition we are led by a team of dedicated, highly skilled and professional people - including those with probation, social work and social action experience and qualifications.
