Charity information: The Potters Village Trust
There are 6.5 million children in Uganda under 5. It sits in the ‘High’ category on the World Food Programme’s hunger map and over 30% of the children under the age of 5 are stunted, irrevocable effects of lack of food. Kisoro District has the highest levels of stunting in Uganda, the effect of long term malnutrition and poverty within a community. We are trying to save lives and improve nutrition in this community, making changes now that will impact future generations.
This project will support families and children by treating them in our Medical Centre during the acute stages of malnutrition. Once stable, the children are then transferred to the NRU for 1 months rehabilitation. During this month the child’s mother stays onsite to care for the child, learn how and what to feed, nutritional cooking techniques, playing and encouraging their child and crop growing and planting techniques.
