Exterior Wall funding
To make much needed improvements to the concrete main outside wall of Bude Sea Pool, which is a vital safe swimming haven for locals and visitors to Bude, helping the local economy.
April 2016 - June 2017
Charity information: Friends Of Bude Sea Pool
The exterior wall in pummelled by high tides twice daily and unfortunately when it was Council owned they did not do any maintenance so it is a bad state needing repair as it is showing the metal work through from 1930 when it was built. We have managed to fund raise enough so far to have resurfaced 2/3's of the wall and now need to do the final 1/3 which we would like to do in April /May time of 2016 ahead of next summer.
If we manage to get this last section done, the whole outside wall should last another 20 years hopefully, which will leave us free to make further improvements which we continue to fundraise for.
For Big Give's Xmas Special, we are hoping to raise funds towards Bude Sea Pool outside wall
Activities» Continuous fundraising events, including our Channel Challenge on 10th Oct 2015, an annual event.
The work will start in Spring of 2016, and we will be able to give a local business confirmation of the work to be done.
It will mean that the outside fabric of the sea wall will be safe for a good number of years to come. As the pool is used to teach children to swim and to save lives as Nippers for BSLSC, and the pool is free to use, it is a very important factor in the improvements needed.
The risks are that we don't have all the money but we constantly fundraise by means of events and securing grants.
We will report via FB, social media and email, if that suits or however your choice?

Bude Sea Pool is on Summerleaze beach, Bude North Cornwall. This 91m seapool was built in 1930 to save lives from the Atlantic.
The many locals and visitors to the area. Cornwall is the Tourist hotspot of the UK and Bude relies on tourism for its economy. Many locals and visitors can swim safely in Bude Sea Pool away from the rollers in the sea but still be in the clean sea water. 30,000 people visited Bude Sea Pool last season.
Friends of Bude Sea Pool took over the management from Cornwall Council after years of neglect. Lack of council funds meant they were going to demolish it. We now are enhancing, improving and maintaining Bude Sea Pool to ensure it lasts another 86 years.
