  • Need

    Need

There is little access to clean drinking water on the site of our orphanage for our orphans and the local community to use. Getting ill means that the orphans and other school children cannot go to school and learn or workers cannot work which means they have no income for their family for food/accommodation.

    Solution

A well will provide clean water for our orphans and the local community to use to drink, use for cooking and for washing. This will reduce the chances of the orphans, other school children and workers getting ill which stops them from studying or earning money.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide clean water for our orphans and the local community to use by building a well.

    Activities

» We will build a well near the orphanage and in close proximity for the local community to use

We will reduce the amount of times the orphans contract water-related illnesses

    Aim 2

To promote sanitation and disease prevention by providing soap to those who use the well.

    Activities

» The project will give access to clean water and soap. We will educate the orphans and the local community on the importance of using soap for hygiene

We will discuss the importance of hygiene with the orphans and local community regularly to encourage habitual change

    Aim 3

Reduce the amount of water-related illnesses in the local area

    Activities

» We will provide clean water to reduce the chances of the orphans, other school children and local community using contaminated water and becoming ill

We will analyse the frequency of people getting ill from water-related diseases

  • Impact

    Impact

The well will provide clean water to help reduce the amount of water-related illnesses in our orphans and the local community. Giving resources such as this to improve health is such a simple step towards better health for those using the well.

    Risk

A main risk is could be that the well is not suitable for the area or it will break down. We have a very positive relationship with a local NGO in the area who are so knowledgable on the need for this well, how to build it and who to employ to maintain it.

    Reporting

We will use social media and newsletter to frequently to update donors on the progress of the project. We always use email to personally thank donors for their kindness, no matter how big or small, because we really appreciate every single penny donated.
