Amref Health Africa
Our vision is one of lasting health change in Africa, where 3% of the world's health workers are fighting one quarter of the world's disease burden. Our scope and impact in Africa is supported by a small UK office struggling to find unrestricted funding for our support staff, office equipment and overheads. UK support is vital as our community projects in Africa are often located in rural locations so can be without internet/electricity for long periods of time.
We are proud that £88p in every £1 donated goes directly to our projects in Africa, although we are always looking to improve this. By taking some of the burden of paying for our core costs such as heating, office equipment and project support staff salaries, we will be able to invest in efficiencies, and send even more money to our projects in Africa in the future.

The main risk is a lack of funding, and given the increasing difficulty in covering core costs, this is seen as a priority in terms of fundraising efforts.
Updates on our work are posted on our website, newsletter to members, and our annual review. We produce monthly email updates that highlight the work of the organisation, forthcoming activities, and the development of key services. Any specific reporting requirements of donors will be adhered to.

Amref Health Africa UK works Ethiopia,Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique, Rwanda, Burunni, Angola, Zambia, Lesotho, Uganda and South Sudan.
Our work transformed the healthcare for 737,520 in 2014. Of these 207,844 were children and 308,742 were women. we strive to improve our impact year on year.
We are uniquely African. We are headquartered in Nairobi; Kenya and >90% percent of our staff are African. We understand the barriers to health care and health care systems and listen and work from within communities to overcome these challenges: strengthening health care systems and community structures. Our projects integrate with policies of regional and local government. We combine project work with a strong research and evaluation component, achieving long-term sustainable results.
