  • Need

the opportunity for people with a learning disability to make and sustain real friendships and become part of a wider society becomes more and more difficult. This is why our social groups have become such a valuable lifeline. Being socially isolated has an increasingly negative impact on an individual’s physical and mental wellbeing.

Our socials are vital in giving local people with a learning disability the opportunity to make and cement friendships. They build an informal support network which becomes essential for the individuals future growth and helps to prevent them from becoming socially isolated again. The social activities lead members into more fulfilled lives, by gaining the confidence they need to volunteer or access other local opportunities independently.

  • Background

Various. ran mainly from our Head Office- 9 Lydia Ann Street, Liverpool, L1 5BW

People with a learning disability. They take longer to learn and may need support to develop new skills , process information or to interact with other people.
Recent local authority cuts have tightened eligibility criteria meaning a reduction in services for people with lower level needs. liverpool in particular has been hit hard by cuts to services, which has had a profound effect on our members many of whom cannot access levels of support anywhere else.
