Education Sponsorship Kenya

We rescue orphans and vulnerable children from the streets of Nairobi Kenya. Reuniting and reintegrating them with their families. Many of these families need education support for their children and we are seeking a partnership with The Big Give' in pursuit of such support.

    Need

    Orphans and vulnerable children who are have been living on the streets of Nairobi. Kenya but have been rescued and reintegrated back to their families. Many of these families need assistance with the education of their children which for many is their route out of poverty.

    Solution

    Education of their children is for many families their route out of poverty. Education is a factor in breaking the poverty cycle.

    Aim 1

    Provide financial support for the education of a child who has been reintegrated with his/her family

    Activities

    » Regular follow up of the child. Visits to the family and the school where the child is being educated to monitor the child's progress.
    » Counselling of the child and his/her family.

    Obtaining regular reports of the child's performance at school, at home and in the Community.

    Break the poverty cycle in a child's family.

    » Regular follow up of the family to monitor the child's progress and to assist the family in other activities such as creating a business.

    Reporting on the progress of the family in their battle with poverty.

    Impact

    Breaking of the poverty cycle of this family. we will regularly monitor the progress they are making.

    Risk

    There is always a risk that the child will return to the streets. To seek to deal with this risk we have a halfway house to prepare children for going back to their families while we work with the families to prepare for the return of their child by seeking to ensure that the home environment is conducive to the return of the child.

    Reporting

    We can give quarterly and annual written reports.

    We have 17 years experience in rescuing and reintegrating children into their families. We have a passionate, committed, skilful Team of Kenyan Social workers who have many years experience and an infrastructure and clarity of vision to carry out this project successfully.
