15 Years of Community Chest

Worthing Community Chest will be 15 years old in 2016. In that time we have supported hundreds of groups in the area and donated over £250,000. We want to promote the charity as much as possible in 2016 to increase fundraising and awareness.

  • Need

Awareness of Worthing Community Chest is not as high as it could be. This means groups who need our help don't know about us. It also limits fundraising from individuals/ corporates who might otherwise support our work

By having funds for promoting the charity we can advertise in the local press, have a stall in the town centre etc. We will be able to speak to groups in the community who, at present, we aren't able to engage with. These groups may not know about the help they can receive and they may feel excluded from mainstream events in the area.
We want to promote social cohesion and inclusion in the area. If we can help new groups with funds for an event or project this will only benefit Worthing.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Raise awareness of Worthing Community Chest.

» Have a stall in the town centre where we can talk to local people and tell them about what we do
» Having articles in the local press to encourage groups to apply
» Placing banners in the town telling people about the work we do.

    What success will look like

More inquiries about our grant scheme and more applications. More hits on our website

    Aim 2

    Increase donorations for the charity

» Having adverts/ articles in the local press to make individuals/ businesses aware of the work we do and hopefully donate
» Have new items like collection boxes/ sponsorship forms so people can fundraise for us

    What success will look like

The number of raffle tickets donated/ adverts placed in our brochure/ general donations

  • Impact

We will be able to help more groups in Worthing and therefore improve social and economic well being in the town.
More corporate involvement with the charity to help groups in the town.

A risk could be damage to the new equipment. This will be limited by storing the items in our office securely.

We will evaluate the increase in visitors to our office/ website and put a report together which will be emailed to donors

  • Background

Worthing is the largest town in West Sussex. The seaside town has been becoming much more popular recently due to the changing demographic, there has been an increase in younger families moving to the area. Areas like the arts are growing rapidly, giving the town a friendly and welcoming feel.

The general population will benefit as new groups, who weren't aware of our charity, will apply to Worthing Community Chest for support. This enables social and economic well-being in the area.
