  • Need

Rays of Sunshine brightens up the lives of seriously & terminally children across the UK. We do this by granting wishes and organising events and outings which act as a distraction from medical appointments and treatment and provide eternal memories. Creating a more positive frame of mind has also been proven to aid treatment and response.
Christmas is a precious time of year for families with a seriously ill child to spend quality time together creating treasured memories.

Rays of Sunshine aims to host a party for 500 seriously ill children and their families. The party provides families with the opportunity to put thoughts of their illness on hold and be swept away by the magic of this enchanting event. Our team of volunteers ensure that each year the party goes beyond expectations. We also aim for every child to leave the party with a special gift. With your help we can create a memorable Christmas for these brave and deserving young people

  • Aims

    Aim 1

The aim of the project is to provide entertainment and distraction for seriously ill children

» We will achieve this aim by creating an afternoon of escapism and entertainment and a special going away gift.

    What success will look like

From the feedback we receive from our wish families and medical referrers. "Every bit of sadness, worry or fear flew out of the window and I was in a bubble of happiness."

  • Impact

In a survey Rays of Sunshine conducted among its medical referrers, 97% thought that having a wish granted has a positive effect on a child who has a life threatening or serious illness.
"Having this shared experience really is something for our family to treasure"
"Liam is more motivating to get out and about to visit new places and meet new people."

This is an annual event that has been run successfully for several years. We complete a risk assessment form each year.

We will submit pictures and feedback from medical practitioners and parents after the event. Donors will also be invited to volunteer at the event.
