Re-claiming Lives of Children & Young People
Reclaiming Lives will provide counselling, therapy and practical support to young people who have no one else to turn to and are least likely to be reached. They are victims of neglect, abuse and have emerging mental health that can trigger negative behaviour and decline in academic performance.
Charity information: Kids Inspire
There is no other local service to deal with their complex issues, many are the children society prefers not to think about. We support and empower disadvantaged young people across Essex to build good relationships and fulfil their potential. The children supported by us have suffered trauma, neglect or abuse and may feel disconnected from society. Their behaviour can challenge teachers and support staff, resulting in them often being negatively labelled, neglected and at risk of exclusion.
KI aims to reconnect disadvantaged CYP with themselves, family and society through delivery of bespoke group and dyad therapy, coaching and mentoring. We aim to increase feelings of self-worth and prevent individuals from joining gangs or becoming involved in youth crime and enable them to positively contribute to their communities. They will improve school attendance and life skills and look to a positive future, feeling safe and secure.
To support ten or more young people who are currently unfunded to secure their future.
Activities» By offering regular therapy sessions with clear Action Plans over the three school terms and bringing therapy to a carefully managed closure.
KI collects evidence through questionnaires, measurement tools and interviews. Last year 97% of service users said KI's services had made a positive difference, 3% no difference.
We endeavor for the young person to display behaviours that signify them choosing to take a fuller and happier role in society (e.g. improved school attendance or application for employment). Kids Inspire will use Outcomes StarT as the main monitoring and evaluation tool. We will collect the appropriate evidence and attendance on a regular basis to assess improvements in relationships.
The only risk is that the young person may not want to continue with their therapy. This is highly unlikely as we really are the only place to offer support to these hard to reach families who turn to us when there is no statutory alternative offered to them.
Funders of this project will receive updates on the cases they support. Obviously names and locations are changed for confidentiality purposes.

Kids Inspire's Head Office in Chelmsford Essex is based between the Kings Road and the Melbourne Estate these areas are in the bottom 10% most deprived wards in Essex.
These estates suffer from large numbers of people with no or low skills, • lowest life expectancy in the Borough They are also above average across the Borough for: • unemployment, • mental health problems, • crime.
Essex's lowest scoring social and economic indicators are for skills and qualifications. Nationwide, an average of 9.3% of people do not have qualifications. This compares with 15% in Maldon and 12.7% in Tendring; examples of Essex's pockets of deprivation. Child wellbeing in these localities is poor. 150,000 Essex residents live with mental health problems, 50% developed conditions in their early teens. KI prevents the development of mental health problems.
Trauma and mental health issues can affect ANY walk of life. Kids Inspire continues to prove that it is the ONLY organisation within Essex capable to deliver bespoke therapy packages to the most complex cases.
The public needs to know that when NHS therapy is provided, it is usually: 9-12 months later than when required; the wrong therapy package; not delivered for long enough.
