Journeys Beginning
UJIA runs a means-tested bursary scheme for applicants who cannot meet the full cost of the tour.
Each year around 30% of young people are not able to go on the trip of a lifetime, a transformational month for 16 year olds.

Need
Need
A month in Israel with a youth movement can be beyond some young people's and their families means.
An Israel Tour bursary means that no young person is left behind, and no participant will not miss tour for financial reasons.Solution
Each year we struggle to raise the £200,000 needed for the shortfall in bursaries to be made up. This, along with text campaigns and some generous major donors will meet that target.
-
Aims
Aim 1
Leaving no child behind by providing bursaries for Israel Tour.
Activities
» Text and Email Campaign.
» Mailshot to database
» General canvassing including lay canvassing over the phone and face to face meetings.
What success will look like
With the young person having more connection to Israel. We ask all bursary recipients to attend our telethons twice a year to call donors and pay it forward.
-
Impact
Impact
A young person that goes on tour feels more connected to the community. Several people who now work in charities (both Jewish and Non-Jewish) were previous recipients, and it teaches them the value of charity.
Risk
No real risks.
Reporting
Mailshots and thank you letters.
