Project information
YOUNG CARER FAMILY BREAK PROJECT
To give a break to young carers who look after a parent or sibling with cancer. The youngsters are between 9 and 18 years and sacrifice their childhood for the sake of their families. They get the chance to go on a park break with their families to get away from their stressful duties for a while.
March 2015 - December 2016

Need
Need
We currently have many more youngsters in need of a break than what we can afford to provide. The number grows each year due to the prevalence of the disease and the cuts to welfare spending.
Solution
We give these youngsters the opportunity to experience what their peers take for granted - a family holiday!
-
Aims
Aim 1
To provide breaks to 61 youngster between the ages of 9 and 18 over the next year.
Activities
» We run various fundraising campaigns during the year including events, auctions and challenges.
What success will look like
We will be able to monitor the success by the number of youngsters who benefit and from the feedback we receive.
-
Impact
Impact
The youngsters and their families are asked to provide feedback on how it contributed to family life and how they cope with the cancer diagnosis as a family.
Risk
An ongoing risk is that we do not raise enough funding to help all the families on the waiting list.
Reporting
We provide an annual report on the progress of the project each year outlining the numbers and feedback from the families.
