  • Need

    Need

We want to prevent thousands more dying in the coming weeks. Many people, including pregnant women and children will be susceptible to water-borne diseases. We can prevent this by providing immediate temporary shelter.
Sadly many thousands have died but many more have survived.
We want to make sure it stays that way.

    Solution

We are able to reach thousands of affected survivors with our strong reputation on the ground and distribution network. These tents will provide shelter for several months until families can rebuild their homes. In some instances or in certain locations where necessary, we may provide alternative shelter materials to survivors. Our tents can also act as classrooms to enable children to continue their education. It is estimated that 1.4 million children have lost a place to learn.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To shelter as many survivors as possible before the monsoons arrive.

    Activities

» We have already begun to distribute tents to those in need. We have provided and furnished tents to act as classrooms.

Success will be by measuring the number of children and families affected by the earthquake that we have been able to provide shelter for.

  • Impact

    Impact

Even after the monsoons have arrived we will continue to assist affected communities. We will begin rebuilding projects with survivors: we will enable them to take control of their lines by teaching them how to rebuild their homes and use the existing materials provided. We will also provide anti-seismic materials to prevent similar damage in case of future catastrophes.

    Risk

The real risk is that we don’t reach our funding target and that means we aren’t able to reach as many survivors as we need to.

    Reporting

We will write by email or letter to all donors with regular updates.
